MATERIALS & NEW PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES
Along with the origin of the Koszalin University of Technology (TUK) in 1974, the Department of Structural Mechanics (DSM) initiated its activity in the frameworks of the team of academic-wide departments. Scientific investigations were taken soon after the completing of works connected with the organization of educational process and the main directions of research activities were formulated and were constantly augmented. The DSM is the structured within the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Environment and Geodesy.
The research area of the laboratory covers various nondestructive evaluation techniques: multifrequency and spectrogram eddy currents testing (MFES ECT), magnetic flux leakage method, Barkhausen noise method, 2D magnetic properties observation, radiography, terahertz inspection. The scope of the research includes well-conductive materials, such as metals, as well as non-conductive plastics or composites.
Team’s research focuses on the computer-aided designing of hard layers and anti-wear coatings, produced by physical vapor deposition (PVD) methods for the machining and biomedical applications. The team specializes in optimization of coating's structure and its deposition technology using Finite Element Method (FEM).
The activity of the Centre for Measurement of Physical and Mechanical Properties of Wood Materials (CMPMPWM) is focused on research and searching for new solutions to develop innovative products and technologies related to the production of wood based products. The operation of the CMPMPWM is focused on in-depth research and analysis related to manufacturing and translating this into scientific knowledge and applying this knowledge to manufacturing operations. The CMPMPWM activities focus on measurement, modelling and construction, i.e.
