The Tourism and Events Research Group (TurEvent) at the Department of Economics, Koszalin University of Technology, Poland, embraces four highly-motivated PhDs in Economics, Econometrics, and Geography (Dorota Janiszewska, Maria Sasin, Luiza Ossowska, and Dariusz Kloskowski). The Group is chaired by Gregory Kwiatkowski, Associate Professor, who has hands-on experience in applying and managing third part-funding and publishing in top international journals. The Team has profound expertise in researching socio-economic impacts of events and festivals on host regions, entrepreneurial aspects of grassroots festivals, and innovation behavior of event organizers. The Team is characterized by professional work organization, regularity, and project-related creativity. The project-related challenges undertaken are connected with current problems in the functioning of the event industry, ones that focus on the implementation of theoretical and empirical issues.

The offered expertise inculdes:
TurEvent may boast of solid expertise in consumer behavior, economics, and management of tourism and events. This Group is one of the Polish leading research groups in analyses of tangible and intangible effects of events. The qualified researchers in this Group are valuable partners for discussing and challenging the ideas and outputs concerning the theoretical foundations and the empirical applications of potential project ideas.  Our research directly contributes to the economic, social and wellbeing development of individuals, organizations and destinations: regionally and internationally. Strong links with our partners in the public and private sectors mean we may ensure that our work remains economically and socially relevant while maximizing quality and impact. During the COVID-19 global health pandemic, we placed significant emphasis on resilience in the events sector.

The Group is interested in collaboration on the operation of events in socio-economic space, including the following:
- the spatial and temporal coverage of events, rooting and genesis of events,
- the importance of events in sustainable tourism development,
- relations between the participants of events (organizers, exhibitors, spectators), including formal and informal ties and their significance in the functioning of an event,
- factors that motivate the participants of events (organizers, exhibitors, spectators),
- the business ecosystem of events, including the individual spheres of this ecosystem and mutual relations between these,
- resilience of the events sector in crises,
- innovation in the events sector.

Additional information (e.g. previous experience in Framework Programmes, experience related to innovation projects, prizes, participation in international organisations):The Group has been involved in implementing projects financed by: National Science Center - Poland (OPUS), Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (Urgency Grants), NordPlus, Swedish Institute, and Research Council of Norway.
