The team of the Department of Nursing consists of 12 ambitious people with high scientific potential, at least PhD degree and education in the fields of nursing, paramedics or midwifery. The staff conducts scientific and research activities in the areas of health sciences, which mainly focus on topics concerning:
1. Multifaceted analysis of factors influencing bio-psycho-social functioning of pre-, peri- and postmenopausal women. The most important aspects are: selected genetic factors, concentrations of bioelements and heavy metals, short-chain fatty acids, personality traits, hormonal conditions affecting, among others, the intensity of menopausal symptoms, inflammation, metabolic syndrome and diabetes, mood disorders (mainly depression and anxiety).
2. Analysis of the influence of genetic, personality, and environmental factors on the quality of life and health behaviors of perimenopausal women.
3. Searching for factors that influence human functioning in disease.
4. Prospects and problems in the development of modern nursing as a science.
The expertise offered includes:
- concept and design of the study—the team has experience in conducting conceptual work (including literature research) and designing new scientific research in the area of health sciences;
- high organizational capacity to conduct research mainly among people (advertising, recruitment, research organization system, implementation of planned indicators—course according to the plan); - methodology development, data analysis, statistical analysis—the team is proficient in using modern tools for data processing and elaboration of results, including the creation of graphical presentations of the content;
- cross-sectional studies, clinical studies, experimental studies and meta-analysis—the team specializes in conducting various types of research;
- thanks to the multifaceted nature of the conducted research, very good cooperation with professionals representing various scientific fields, e.g. we do not have our own laboratory, but we cooperate with many in Poland;
- manuscript preparation, manuscript editing, and manuscript review—the team has extensive experience in preparing manuscripts for publication;
- leadership—the team consists of individuals who repeatedly take responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole from inception to published article.
The group is interested in cooperation in:
- co-founding a new international team whose goal will be to conduct innovative research in the field of health sciences;
- supporting teams with experience, especially those working on research on environmental and social determinants of health, with particular emphasis on women's health, health risks, and preventive measures;
- cooperation in international teams, especially in the field of data acquisition in Poland, including data concerning various aspects of women’s health, as well as medical workers (especially nurses), and problems concerning nursing;
- the team shows great flexibility and openness, due to the wide range of interests among its members and their considerable experience in conducting research and publishing the results.
