Cognition & Communication Research Group (CCRG) is an interdisciplinary group of researchers with backgrounds in philosophy, cognitive science, theoretical and experimental pragmatics, linguistics, psychology, and behavioural economics. Its aim is to integrate insights from these different research domains to better understand mechanisms underlying cognitive and communicative processes. The members of CCRG have experience in developing theoretical models as well as carrying out empirical studies of discursive, perceptual, and cognitive phenomena such as indirect speech, subordinating speech, silencing and slurring, irony, presupposing, accommodation, tinnitus, user experience, and consumer decisions.
The CCRG laboratory is equipped with eye tracking devices, a virtual reality headset, and a number of biometric sensors (galvanic skin response devices, facial electromyographic sensors, heart rate monitors, and so on).

The expertise offered includes:
- modelling communicative and cognitive mechanisms underlying discursive and social phenomena such as indirect speech, subordinating speech, silencing, slurring, ironizing, presupposing, accommodation, and so on;
- experimental studies on communicative phenomena studied by pragmatics;
- analytic philosophy of mind, analytic philosophy of language, philosophy of cognitive science;
- philosophical perspectives on animal cognition and the evolution of human cognitive and communicative skills;
- psychoacoustic analyses of tinnitus for sound therapy purposes;
- multi-agent simulations in modelling the dynamics of communicative and economic systems;
- using methods of Artificial Intelligence and cognitive neuroscience in economy and management; in particular, testing the influence of psychological factors on consumer behavior;
- expert analysis and auditing of the usability, availability and effectiveness of Internet and advertising messages based on research applying both eye-tracking techniques and other methods used in research on usability and accessibility of web interfaces.

The group is interested in cooperation in:
- developing theoretical models of hate speech, subordinating speech, silencing, slurring and other socially-excluding speech acts;
- theoretical and empirical research on mechanisms underlying indirect speech, presupposing, accommodation, and other phenomena studied by theoretical and experimental pragmatics;
- using methods and techniques of experimental pragmatics within the area of clinical pragmatics;
- empirical studies of speech perception with a special emphasis on the role of prosodic information in recognising the function and meaning of a speech act;
- psychoacoustic analyses for sound therapy purposes;
- using techniques of Artificial Intelligence, cognitive neuroscience and multi-agent simulations in modelling communicative and economic processes.

Additional information (e.g. previous experience in Framework Programmes, experience related to innovation projects, prizes, participation in international organisations):Research activities of CCRG and its members have been supported by a number of research grants funded by the National Science Centre, Poland.
