The Department of Regional and European Studies functions within the Humanities Faculty at the Koszalin University of Technology. It comprises scholars who focus their interests on areas of research such as: European integration, modern migrations, urban studies, new social movements, social security, cybersecurity, and regionalism. The Department tries to research the topics which are of importance for local issues. The topics are researched within the fields of political science, history, sociology, and media studies. The researchers either hold PhD diplomas or higher. They are experienced scholars who have published a number of papers and monographs both in Polish and foreign languages. They have received national and foreign scholarships, as well as have taken part in scientific conferences and associations. 

The expertise offered includes:
- historical, political and social analysis of issues being considered at the local and regional level;
- writing reports on given topics within the field of social sciences;
- publication of papers and monographs;
- organizing seminars and workshops for local authorities;
- cooperation with non-governmental organizations;
- organizing and running a think-tank whose focus would be on the issues important for the West Pomerania region;
- cooperation with scholars from other universities – national and foreign – and carrying out comparative studies that would provide valuable information from the outside perspective;
- cooperation with grammar and high schools aiming at teaching students about threats in cyberspace;
- cooperation with local institutions, e.g. in working on strategic documents.

The group is interested in cooperation in:
- preparing reports on the topics being in the interests of the Department;
- organizing seminars and workshops;
- cooperation with institutions and schools in the field of knowledge;
- offering expert advice for local authorities.
