The Department of Economics and Accounting (DE&A) groups 9 scientists, including 2 professors and 7 Ph. D. Sc. These specialists are working on: science-industry linkages, national and regional innovation systems, determinants of economic growth and development (primarily related to R&D, innovations, cooperation in clusters, the efficiency and productivity of R&D), problems of sustainable development, various aspects of economic decision making, importance of human and social capital and technology for economic growth and development, economics of transport, the use of mathematical and econometric methods to evaluate the effectiveness and economic growth, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its reporting, financial and management accounting and tax problems in NGO’s, valuation of assets and liabilities in accounting, accounting behavioral aspects.

The expertise offered includes:
- cluster development strategy;
- regional development strategy;
- financial and economic analyses of enterprises and NGO’s;
- analysis of clusters relationships within bioeconomy and other smart specialization;
- assessment of efficiency and productivity of the regional innovation systems;
- assessment of development strategies of cities and municipalities;
- research and analytical services (with respect to functional projects for implementation of IR ERP-class systems);
- formulation and revision for development programmes concerning social capital;
- research and analytical services in the field of innovation in European Union countries (in micro, meso and macroscale) and its determinants.

The group is interested in cooperation in the field:
- sustainable development in the EU countries, determinants, goals, effectiveness;
- innovativeness of the economy and enterprises;
- effectiveness of R&D and innovative activities;
- national and regional innovation systems, science and industry linkages;
- clusters - functioning, strategies, innovation in the food and chemical industries;
- measuring and evaluating effectiveness and productivity (quantitative and qualitative research);
- long-term economic growth - determinants, the use of statistical and econometric methods to study growth factors;
- challenges of the world economy;
- social capital.

Scientific specialisation is spatial policy. The department conducts research into the economic, legal, environmental and urban conditions of spatial policy. spatial policy tools (e.g. spatial development plans) are studied and evaluated. Particular emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary determination of spatial policy objectives, and the implementation of these objectives in legal acts (at the national, regional and local levels). The Chair also works on comparing spatial planning systems in different countries. The department also conducts analyses of changes in spatial and urban policy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The department staff cooperate on these topics with a group of several dozen research units (in Poland and other countries), constantly expanding the scope of this cooperation.

The expertise offered includes:
- comparison of spatial policy instruments in different countries;
- Implementing environmental and cultural objectives in spatial policy instruments;
- Optimal legal changes related to spatial planning at national, regional and local levels;
- Characteristics of flexibility issues in spatial planning;
- Determining economic consequences of spatial policy;
- Recommendations for changes in urban policy after COVID-19
- co-authoring of broad international reports on specific determinants of spatial policies;
- diagnosing spatial planning problems in the context of renewable energy sources;
- diagnosing spatial planning problems in the context of environmental and nature protection;
- relating spatial planning problems to European Union acts, especially the European Union Territorial Agenda 2030;
- defining key objectives of the European spatial policy;
- defining the role of property ownership in spatial planning systems;
- verifying social barriers to implementing specific spatial planning objectives;
- analysing legal issues related to spatial planning;
- discussing the role of local government units and national authorities in spatial planning.

The group is interested in cooperation in:
- participation in international projects that compare spatial planning systems in different countries;
- participation in international projects jointly defining a post-COVID-19 urban policy framework;
- participation in international projects dedicated to the clarification of the European spatial policy framework;
- participation in international publications on spatial planning issues and urban policy after COVID-19;
- participation in international research networks on spatial planning and urban development issues;
- preparation of expert reports comparing the conditions for spatial planning in different countries and providing recommendations for further action;
- participation in various forms of scientific discussion on issues related to spatial planning.

The research team includes:

Research interests area of the team focuses on the financial aspects of the functioning of enterprises, farms and households. The results of the research projects being carried out are numerous national and international scientific publications. Taking into account research interests of the team, the expertise offered includes, in particular:

The group is interested in cooperation in:
●   implementation of team research projects in the area of corporate finances (financial, investment and current decisions of enterprises);
●   implementation of team research projects in the area of farm finance (determinants of the selection of financing sources, factors determining the development of farms, with particular emphasis on small farms, green investments of farms, implementation of sustainable development goals);
●   implementation of team research projects in the area of personal finance (determinants of household financial decisions, use of financial services and products by households, financial exclusion, distribution of income between current consumption and savings, household debt).
